What it is
Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome) is load-related irritation along the inner shin bone — the classic new-runner and returning-athlete complaint. It's your bone and soft tissue telling you the training load climbed faster than their capacity.
How we treat it
We manage the load (usually modified running rather than full rest), build calf and hip capacity with a progressive program, and address mechanics where they matter. We also take escalating shin pain seriously — if your pattern suggests a possible stress fracture, we'll modify the plan and coordinate imaging through your physician.
